Grief in your life

Grief is a big topic. It has many faces and moves through our lives in ways we often don’t recognise. It can be personal, family‑held, collective, or even carried by an entire community or country.

We grieve for many reasons — the loss of a loved one or a pet, the dreams that never came to life, or the childhood we wished we’d had. We may grieve for a parent who wasn’t able to be there for us in the way we needed. These forms of grief are deeply human, and they shape us quietly over time.

But grief doesn’t always begin with us.

In many families, grief is passed down through generations. A grandmother who lost a child. A father who lost his own father when he was young. A lineage marked by war, migration, separation, or silence. When grief is not fully acknowledged or held, it can settle into the family system and be carried by those who come after — often without knowing why they feel heavy, stuck, or overwhelmed.

Family Constellations offers a way to gently reveal what sits behind your grief. It helps you see whether the sadness you carry is truly yours, or whether it belongs to someone who came before you. In the constellation, grief can be witnessed, honoured, and returned to its rightful place in the family system.

When grief is acknowledged in this way, something settles. The weight can lift. You no longer have to carry what isn’t yours, and you can begin to live your life with more freedom, clarity, and ease.
